As part of its activities to promote Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Uganda, WorldSkills Federation Uganda successfully conducted the Eastern Regional Skills Competitions on October 21, 2025 at Iganga Vocational Training Institute.
The event brought together talented young competitors from various institutions across the Eastern region to showcase their skills, creativity, and technical excellence in different trades, namely: construction and building, electrical installation, welding and metal fabrication, fashion and design, and carpentry and cabinet making.

The competitions served as a platform to inspire youth participation in skills development and to demonstrate the growing potential of TVET in shaping Uganda’s workforce.
Outstanding competitors in each trade qualified for the National Skills Competitions, where they will compete with peers from other regions across the country. Winners at national level will advance to WorldSkills 2026 international competitions in Shanghai, China.

WorldSkills Federation Uganda continues to empower young people with the skills needed to thrive in the job market while positioning Uganda as an active participant in the global skills movement.
