HOIMA — WorldSkills Uganda, in partnership with Enabel, has convened a strategic stakeholders’ engagement bringing together Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and industry partners from across the Albertine and Rwenzori regions, in a bid to strengthen skills development and enhance the quality and relevance of TVET delivery in the two regions.
Speaking during the meeting, Education and Skills Development Expert Ham Wilson Lukurwe underscored the critical role of TVET in equipping young people with practical, industry-relevant skills that open pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.
He noted that young people who possess the right skills are better positioned to secure decent jobs or create their own economic opportunities.

The engagement reflects WorldSkills Uganda’s commitment to fostering stronger collaboration between training institutions and industry, ensuring that Uganda produces a skilled workforce that meets the evolving demands of the labour market and drives sustainable socio-economic development.
By bringing together TVET institutions and industry players, the initiative is designed to close the persistent gap between classroom training and the practical demands of the workplace — a gap that has long been cited as a barrier to youth employability in Uganda.
