The main aim of organizing skills competitions is to raise the profile and recognition of skilled people, and showing how important skills are in improving the livelihood of an individual/community and achieving economic growth to a country. Specifically, WorldSkills Uganda aims to:

- Increase the quality of skills delivery of a country through benchmarking global TVET systems during the Skills Competitions;
- Improve the perception of young people on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET);
- Promote the employability of young people through acquisition of labor marklet relevant skills, and;
- Motivate employers especially the private sector to participate in Skills Development processes
