(Swakopmund – Namibia) – World Skills Uganda successfully participated in the 2022 WorldSkills Africa competition held in Swakopmund City in Namibia from 28th March to 3rd April.
WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022 (WSAS2022) was a three-tier event hosted by WorldSkills Namibia in partnership with WorldSkills International and the African Union. It includes a Skills Competition, a Careers Exhibition, and a TVET Conference.
The capacity building programmes and skills competition featured the following skills. The objective was to ensure that the skills competition is inclusive and addresses the actual social challenges faced in Africa.
Five competitors were fielded to represent Uganda in the following skills;
- Bricklaying
- Hairdressing
- Restaurant Service
- Welding
- Fashion Technology
The Ugandan team came third and won the bronze model in the Restaurant Service skills category.
The successful team members will represent the country in Switzerland and Ohio (United States) in the 2022 WorldSkills International Competition.
